Water carved slots, swims, rappels & smiles!

Canyoneering, in its truest form, is an exceptional experience… about so much more than just rappelling, or walking through narrow corridors.  Exploring deep inside these earthen corridors, within anomalous beauty while also expanding your own physical and mental limits, will undoubtedly be one of the most memorable and exciting experiences of your life.

Canyoneering in the Moab area

Local Moab Canyons are characterized by big rappels and bigger views. Many of the routes weave through multiple fins, or giant dome-like rock features, taking you into and out of narrow sections. Some local canyons move through a riparian environment, where vegetation grows abundantly, creating micro-oases in the desert (Ephedra’s Grotto). Others are comprised of intermittent slot canyons where standing water fills rock potholes and require short wades and the occasional swim (Chamisa & Hypatia Canyons).

Moab Area Slot Canyons – deep, narrow and twisted passages through rock – exist in various areas near Moab and we run 3/4 Day, Full Day and Multi-Day Trips through some of these amazing routes. Getting to these areas requires a 1.25 to 2 hour drive from Moab, depending on the location.  See our Little Sinbad Canyon 3/4 Day TripsHanksville / North Wash and Cedar Mesa Full Day and Multi Day Trips, for more information.
